| 学修の概要 | This is an English current events class that is largely exploratory. Students will be given the opportunity to choose themes to research and news articles to read and to share. The teacher will guide and prompt this research and provide information to help students navigate different kinds of information and information in English. これは、主に探究的な内容の英語時事問題クラスです。学生は、自ら調べるテーマとニュース記事を選び、それを読んで共有する機会が与えられます。教師は、学生が様々な情報や英語の情報にアクセスできるよう、指導・促し、情報を提供します。 |
| 学修の到達目標 | These days, we have almost limitless access to information, anytime, anywhere. The ability to navigate information and judge whether that information is real or biased are important skills in any language. This class gives students the opportunity to practice these skills. | 授業計画 | 第1回 | -Class, teacher, and student introductions. Students will have a chance to get to know the teacher and each other, and they will explore the class themes through games and question prompts provided by the teacher. All this is to help the students decide if this class is the right fit for them or not. |
| 第2回 | -Class rules and expectations. As a class, we will go through the class syllabus to ensure everyone understands what is expected in this class. This will help students prepare for the rest of the semester. | |
| 第3回 | -lecture and choose first news topic. Going forward in this class, it will be important for students to understand how to find reliable articles and how to properly cite the articles they find. The teacher will give a lecture and conduct practice prompts and discussion questions on these topics to help the students understand. Students will be provided with a list of potential news topics and then the class will vote on the topic they would most like to focus on. The topic with the most votes will be chosen topic for the whole class. The teacher will pass out the class study packet which is filled with worksheets mostly to be completed for homework. The worksheets in the study packet will ask students to write down vocabulary and answer questions about articles. For homework, students will have to find and cite an article related to the chosen class topic and complete the first worksheet in the study packet. | |
