学修の概要 | This course focuses on developing presentation skills. The desired outcome of Semester 1 is for students to plan, prepare, and deliver a confident and well-structured presentation on an academic topic. We will study basic structures and expressions in professional and academic presentations. Our textbook will be just a base in expanding self-confidence in further presentations. 数多くの発表、さらに様々な課題のために、自信を付けられ、大勢の前に立つのは怖くないように訓練しましょう。 |
学修の到達目標 | The overall aim of the Presentation course is for students to gain confidence in their English-language communication skills, through the planning, composing, and delivery of an effective presentation. |
授業計画 | 第1回 | Getting Ready A: Planning: Learn about the steps for presentation planning: brainstorming, selecting, and organizing information |
第2回 | Getting Ready B: Presenting: Using gestures, making eye contact, maintain posture | |
第3回 | Unit 1a: A good friend. Planning: Talking about someone's personal profiles, performing surveys about classmates | |
第4回 | Unit 1b: Presenting: Using eye contact to connect with the audience, learning about openers and closers | |
第5回 | Unit 2a: A favourite place . Planning: Describing different kinds of places. | |
第6回 | Unit 2b: Presenting: Using body language :posture and hand position in talking about favourite places | |
第7回 | Unit 3a: A prized possession. Planning: Discussing what makes possessions important to people and collecting information about favourite possessions | |
第8回 | Unit 3b: Presenting: Showing favourite objects to an audience and talking about the most important points | |
第9回 | Unit 4a: A memorable experience . Planning: Interviewing classmates about their experiences, making notes | |
第10回 | Unit 4b: Presenting: Projecting your voice , speaking clearly about precious experiences , using stress to emphasize main points | |

第15回 | Reviewing the course and performing a great rehearsal of the final presentation. |
授業外学習の課題 | Students are expected to study for at least four hours per week out of class. 1) Two hours should be spent previewing the material for the next class (e.g. textbook, handouts, internet research). 2) Two hours should be spent reviewing notes and materials from the previous class. |
履修上の注意事項 | 対面授業を実施します。 英語英文学科で提供している科目については、公認欠席を含め、欠席はいかなる事情があっても4回までとします。 公認欠席について: Individual instruction will be provided for students with authorized absences. To be successful on this course, students need: 1) good attendance and time keeping. 2) good classwork and homework. 3) good motivation and participation. Do not be afraid of talking in front of huge audience. If you are, we will help you to be more confident in your presentaions |
成績評価の方法・基準 | The grade for the semester is composed of: 1) Tests/Tasks/Projects (50%) 2) Active Participation (50%) *Absences and Lateness will negatively affect grades. |
