学修の概要 | This course will focus on conversation strategies, extensive reading, and learner autonomy. We will also focus on language, pictures and film, and language teaching. It will require discussion, cooperation, creativity, as well as continued extensive reading. Critical thinking will also be a central part of the course for this term. |
学修の到達目標 | Students will need to prepare for each class, to read, find or create materials outside class, and to consider topics related to English in the world. We will continue to have reading as part of our classes. |

第2回 | Pictures I: look, think, make notes, prepare explanations or stories, prepare vocabulary; extensive reading. Students will become more able to plan how to express and explain in English. | |
第3回 | Pictures II: Share your pictures, questions, explanations and stories in new groups; extensive reading. Students will become more able to ask questions, express and explain in English. | |
第4回 | Pictures III: Return to your group and tell about other groups' answers, pictures, explanations and stories; add to your portfolio; extensive reading. Students will be able to report classmates's comments and write a portfolio entry. | |
第5回 | Teaching I: Choose a unit from our terms 1, 3 coursebook. Small groups plan and prepare and practice teaching it; extensive reading Students will be better able to work in teams. | |
第6回 | Teaching II: Each group will be ready to teach their part; learn how to give feedback to teachers; extensive reading. Students will become experienced in lesson planning. | |
第7回 | Teaching III: Each group teaches their part; class members participate and give feedback to teachers. 第13回 | Skits I: Watch, think, make notes, prepare explanations and reactions, prepare vocabulary; plan conversations; extensive reading Students will start planning skits. | |
第14回 | Skits II: Share your skits, vocabulary, questions, and discuss in new groups; practice conversations; extensive reading. Students will be able to perform simple skits. | |
第15回 | Skits III: Return to your group and tell about other groups' skits, and your discussions: portfolio; do conversation tests, extensive reading. Students will perform skits as videos. |
授業外学習の課題 | We will be meeting in class, but well before each class, check any messages or emails and follow instructions to be prepared for the class. After each class, check what you have to do, and when by - homework and other tasks. Students are expected to study for around 1 hour for each Active English class. 1) At least 30 minutes should be spent preparing for the next class (e.g. writing, textbook, handouts). 2) At least 30 minutes should be spent reviewing notes and materials from the previous class. |
履修上の注意事項 | 【対面授業を実施します】 We will have classes face to face, but will also use Google Classroom, Google Documents and other online tools for any online or on-demand classes. 英語英文学科で提供している科目については、公認欠席を含め、欠席はいかなる事情があっても4回までとします。For any authorized absences (公認欠席), assignments will be provided. |
