授業題目 Learning and Talking about SDGs in English
授業の概要 In recent years, SDGs have become a familiar term used in Japan, but what do they actually mean? What are some of the major environmental, societal, and economic issues--for the world and for YOUR community--that are found behind these Sustainable Development Goals? How can you talk about them in English with your non-Japanese friends so that you can exchange your thoughts and opinions on how to start taking even small actions towards resolving them?

In this course, you will learn about some of these ("Glocal"= Global and Local) issues through recent data and reading/listening materials in (easier) English. At the same time, you will learn new vocabulary used to talk about these topics, work on some challenging language points, and also practice putting your thoughts and opinions into clear English sentences, questions, and paragraphs (mainly through speaking), and USE them with others, both in and out of the classroom. In other words, you will learn both the CONTENT of actual SDG issues and the LANGUAGE of how to discuss them with others in English.
学習の到達目標 By the end of the course, you will:
1. Understand some current issues and situations regarding SDGs, both globally and in Japan through readings and listening material in English.
2. Learn and use the necessary vocabulary and structures used to talk about SDG issues.
3. Increase your confidence in expressing your own thoughts in English, and responding to those of others, through actual experience and reflection.

授業外学習の課題 この授業では、毎回少なくとも90分～120分を自宅などで復習、予習、語彙などの勉強に使う必要があります。
ReadingやListening Tasksは、授業外でも再度声に出して行ってください。
後半のChoose your Topicでは、チーム内でコミュニケーションをとって進めてください。
履修上の注意事項 ①　この科目は、本学部2年次以降の、主にShudo English Level 1~3のみなさんを対象としています。（Level 4でも履修は可能です。）
②　英語と日本語で授業を行いますが、授業で使用するスライドやテキストはすべて英語です。
③　第4学期の授業ですが、Web Entryは第3学期と同時期に行う必要があります。クラス定員は24名です。
④　この授業で使用するLMSはGoogle Classroomです。Moodleではありませんのでご注意ください。
⑤　履修者リストが確定したら、全員のAlpha MailにGoogle Classroom リンクをお送りします。9月中旬頃までには@alpha.shudo-u.ac.jpのメールボックスを頻繁に確認して、必ずClassroomに入ってください。そこに情報をアップしておきます。受講前の質問等もいつでもOKです。担当教員のメールアドレスもそこで確認できます。
⑥　この授業にはテキストがあります。これは必ず購入してください。音声ファイルや最新情報やビデオの外部リンクなどもアクセスできるテキストですので、この授業での学習に大変役立ちます。
成績評価の方法・基準 Your Final Grade for this course will be based on:
①　Active and Thoughtful participation (and effort to speak English) in class 30%
②　Quizzes and homework assignments 40%
③　Midterm and Final Major Tasks 10% + 20%
＊やむを得ず欠席や20分以上の遅刻がある場合は事前にメール連絡してください。
＊（非公認）欠席が5回以上になってしまうと、原則、単位取得が大変難しくなりますのでご注意ください。
＊公認欠席についての資料は、第1回の授業で配布します。
