授業題目	Active English I
授業の概要	This course will focus on conversation strategies, extensive reading, and learner development.Through this course, students will have many opportunities to become more confident in speaking English, and to get to know each other. Topics will include talking about the things that are important to you.
学習の到達目標	To be more capable. more confident, more motivated users of English.

授業計画	第１回	Sitting next to a new classmate. Meeting your classmates, learning about Active English, our coursebook, and becoming an active learner! Introduction to extensive reading.
	第２回	Unit 1. It's nice to meet you. Introductions and personal information.
	第３回	Unit 1. It’s nice to meet you. Personal questions and life events.
	第４回	Unit 2. Who are they talking about? Describing people and families.
	第５回	Unit 2. Who are they talking about? People and families. Using words and expressions to describe someone's physical appearance and personality.
	第６回	Unit 3. When do you start? Making plans, talking about schedules.
	第７回	Review and consolidation. Student-led.
	第８回	Students will reflect on their progress in the fundamental skills required for taking part actively in discussions. Speaking Test 1
	第９回	Unit 4. Where does this go? Talking about locations.
	第１０回	Unit 4. Where does this go? Using words and expressions to describe location and household items.
	第１１回	Unit 5. How do I get there? Giving directions.
	第１２回	Unit 5. How do I get there? Using words and expressions for specifying places and giving directions.
	第１３回	Unit 6. What happened? Talking about past experiences.
	第１４回	Review and consolidation. Student-led.
	第１５回	Students will reflect on their progress in the fundamental skills required for taking part actively in discussions. Speaking Test 2

授業外学習の課題	We will be meeting in class, but well before each class, check any messages or emails and follow instructions to be prepared for the class. After each class, check what you have to do, and when by - homework and other tasks. Students are expected to study for around 1 hour for each Active English class. 1) 30 minutes should be spent previewing the material for the next class (e.g. textbook, handouts, internet research). 2) 30 minutes should be spent reviewing notes and materials from the previous class.
履修上の注意事項	【対面授業を実施します】 We will have classes face to face, but will also use Google Classroom, Google Documents and other online tools for face to face and any on-demand classes. 英語英文学科で提供している科目については、公認欠席を含め、欠席はいかなる事情があっても４回までとします。
成績評価の方法・基準	Communication Skills Assessment (30%), extensive reading (15%), quizzes (15%), final vocabulary tests (20%), class participation (20%). Feedback will be given for assignment and tests.
