| 授業の概要 | This course is designed for students to reflect on their study abroad experiences and future learning goals. Specifically, students will share and identify themes that they experienced during their time overseas. This will allow them to identify better their future learning goals and the steps needed to achieve them. They will then use this information to engage in future discussions with their classmates. Lastly, students will prepare a presentation based on their time studying abroad. |
| 学習の到達目標 | By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1.) correctly identify the critical skills necessary to reflect upon their time abroad; 2.) obtain a clearer vision of their future learning goals and the steps needed to achieve them; 3.) better articulate their experiences to a broad audience either in group discussion sessions or in a presentation setting. |
| 授業計画 | 第１回 | Introduction to your study-abroad experience. Overview and application of various reflection skills on the student's overseas experiences. |
| 第２回 | Cross-group sharing and identification of themes. The themes are generated by students focusing on education, homestay, and learning outside the classroom. | |
| 第３回 | Continuation of cross-group sharing and identification of themes. Further development of any similarities or differences within these themes. | |
| 第４回 | A broader examination of any other topics related to the study abroad experience. | |
| 第５回 | Examination and reflection on Culture Shock and Reverse Culture and the degree to how it affected the students (On demand). | |
| 第６回 | Assessment of goals for future learning. Students look at how their past experiences have directly affected the kind of goals that they have set and the steps needed to achieve them. | |
| 第７回 | Based on the information provided by the group discussions, along with the needed goals and steps, students prepare slides for a final presentation. | |
| 第８回 | Review summary based on final presentations. Feedback will be provided. | |

| 授業外学習の課題 | Students should make every effort to: 1.) Reflect deeply on their experiences overseas. 2.) Always review the last class and preview the next class (spend 3-4 hours of study time outside of class). 3.) Use the study time to focus on assigned readings, homework, research, and skills practice. |
| 履修上の注意事項 | To succeed in this course, you need to: 1.) Attend and actively participate in all classes. 2.) No negative evaluation will be given due to authorized absences. 3.) If you have over three absences, you will not receive credit for this course. 4.) If absent, contact the teacher to make up for missed class materials, quizzes, or presentations. |
