学修の概要 This is an international co-learning course in which Japanese and international students learn together. Students will consider various aspects of Japanese society, such as culture, traditions, values, and gender issues (gender roles, gender-based violence, marital rights, LGBTQ+, etc.) in Japan. In addition, students will be exposed to topics related to the city of Hiroshima to deepen their intersectional learning.

* The weekly plan may be adjusted depending on variables such as class size and the language proficiency levels of the registered students.
学修の到達目標 By the end of the course, successful students will be able to:
a): get acquainted with the Japanese view of nature and environmental issues.
b): engage in creating co-learning space through active participation by both international and Japanese students.
b): find and discuss topics relating to nature and the environment in Japan in their own words.
c): prepare and deliver a group presentation on an approved topic of their choice and also lead a post-presentation discussion on it.

授業外学習の課題 Students will be expected to:
・Complete assignments on time and be prepared for the next class.
・Spend 4 hours between sessions for review, self-reflection, research, and preparation for the next class.
・Spend several outside-class hours preparing and practicing before their final presentation.
・Share responsibility for making the class lively, stimulating, respectful of differences, and challenging.
履修上の注意事項 IMPORTANT!! You MUST read this BEFORE you decide to register for this course.
* This course is an international 'co-learning' course for local and international students and will be conducted mostly in English.
* Local students should have at least TOEIC 500, TOEIC Bridge 80, or EIKEN 2 to take this course.

・Registration for local students will be through "Web Entry"
・The maximum class size will be 24.
・Regular attendance to all the classes is expected.
・Absences will proportionately reduce the participation grade unless extenuating circumstances are documented.
・ If for any reason you cannot come to class, you are responsible for notifying the instructor and making arrangements to make up for the work you miss.
・Credits for this course will normally not be given if you are absent more than 4 times.
・When students’ absences are properly validated, they can arrange to complete the assignments or submit additional work.
