授業の題目 | English Presentations I 英語プレゼンテーション研究Ⅰ |
学修の概要 | Students will use all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) to give informative and entertaining presentations in English. They will produce and deliver three (3) presentations (3–4 minutes each): • Warm-up presentation: Give a short self-introduction including three topics about yourself. For example, your hometown, family, and hobbies. • Presentation 1: Describe your favorite place, how often you go there, and what you do there and explain why you like it. For example, riding your bicycle in the park every weekend because it helps you to relax. • Presentation 2: Describe or demonstrate how to do or make something and explain why it is useful. For example, making a sandwich as a healthy snack. Students will practice their presentations in class and share feedback with their classmates about each others' presentations. |
学修の到達目標 | By the end of this course, students will have developed the following skills: • Complete surveys and interviews • Talk about opinions and experiences • Brainstorm for and organize ideas • Get an audience's attention • Design effective note cards and PowerPoint slides • Speak loudly and clearly, using proper rhythm and pitch • Use body language (posture, gestures, and eye contact) • Manage speaking anxiety • Give kind feedback • Talk about different types of places and how often people go • Describe places • Talk about activities people do in different places • Talk about types of skills and talents, and why they are useful • Introduce the materials or ingredients needed for a demonstration • Give clear instructions how to do or make something |

授業外学習の課題 | Students will spend up to 3 hours per week preparing for their presentations. For each presentation, students will need to prepare the following materials outside of class and bring them to class on the day of the presentation: • outline • script • notes (on small notecards) • visual aids (photos, videos, PowerPoint slides, and/or real objects) |
履修上の注意事項 | • Lessons for this course will be taught in English. 授業は英語で行われます。 • This is a blended course. Lessons will be taught in-person and online-only through Google Classroom. 授業は基本として対面で実施する予定ですが、Google Classromでオンラインのみの授業を実施するときもあります。 • Presentations will be video and audio recorded for purposes of feedback and scoring. プレゼンテーションはフィードバック及び評価のために録画・録音されます。 • Homework will be assigned through Google Classroom. The instructor will provide the class code during the first lesson. ホームワーク(予習、課題等)はGoogle Classroomで行います。class codeは第1回目の授業で配布されます。 • Excused absences will be treated as absences, but they will not affect the requirements for credit. Students with a high number of unexcused absences may not receive credit for the course. 公認欠席は欠席として扱いますが、単位認定要件には影響しないように配慮します。理由のない欠席が多い学生は、単位を取得できない場合があります。 • Any in-class presentations missed due do excused absence may be made up by submitting a video of a presentation done at home, recorded with a smartphone, etc. プレゼンテーションの日に公認欠席がある場合は、代わりに自宅でスマホ等で録画したプレゼンテーションを提出することができます。 【公認欠席は欠席として扱いますが、単位認定要件、または期末試験の受験要件には影響しないように配慮します。(この一文は自動挿入されています。)】 【レベル2・3・4の学生が履修可能です】 |
成績評価の方法・基準 | • 50% for Presentation 1 (v2) • 50% for Presentation 2 (v2) Presentation scores will be based on how well students can use the skills taught in the course (see 学習の到達目標). The Warm-up presentation and v1 presentations will not be included in the final grade, but students MUST complete ALL presentations to receive credit for the course. プレゼンテーションの評価は、どの程度まで授業で学んだスキルを用いてプレゼンテーションができるかに基づく (「学習の到達目標」に参考)。Warm-up presentationとv1 presentationsは成績に含まれませんが、それも含めて全てのプレゼンテーションをしない場合は単位がもらえません。 |
