授業題目 Discussion and Debate
授業の概要 This course is designed to improve the English listening, speaking, and discussion skills of students. The focus in the second semester is on moving on from everyday conversation to more structured argument and debate, exploring skills such as agreeing and disagreeing and critical thinking.
学習の到達目標 The aim of this course is to develop students' abilities to actively join in discussions and conversations.
1. To improve general English speaking and listening skills.
2. To improve interpersonal and strategic language skills.
3. To develop self-expression skills.

授業外学習の課題 Students will be expected to study for at least 120 minutes per week out of class.
These are the 3 expectations of EVERY student on this course:
1) Use English as much as possible
2) Have good attendance & good time-keeping
3) Always come to class fully prepared to discuss the day's topic
履修上の注意事項 対面授業を実施します

原則として4回を超えた欠席をした場合、単位は認められません。
また、欠席については事前に連絡をすること。
As a general rule, credits will not be granted if a student is absent more than 4 times. In addition, contact needs to be made in advance of any absences.

To be successful on this course, students need:
1) good attendance and time keeping.
2) good classwork and homework.
3) good motivation and participation.
成績評価の方法・基準 The grade for the semester is composed of:
Active participation, 30%; Homework assignments, 20%; First assessment, 20%; Second assessment, 30%.
*If a student is absent from a class, it is the student's responsibility to contact a classmate or the teacher to find out about the classwork/homework.
テキスト No textbook is required. Materials will be provided in class and through Google Classroom.
