授業の概要 This course will focus on conversation strategies, extensive reading, and learner development.Through this course, students will have many opportunities to become more confident in speaking English, and to get to know each other. Topics will include talking about the things that are important to you.

第2回 “It’s nice to meet you!” I: Getting to know your classmates, sharing personal information. My Special Thing I. Extensive reading: writing a book report.
第3回 “It’s nice to meet you!” II: What you can ask, and how. My Special Thing II. Extensive reading: sharing book reports. Think about your learning.
第4回 “Who are they talking about?” I: Describing people and families. My Special Thing III. Extensive reading: planning your reading.
第5回 “Who are they talking about?” II: People and families. Asking favours. Extensive reading: writing a book report better. Think about your learning.
第6回 “When do you start?” I: Making plans, talking about schedules. Extensive reading: sharing book reports.

授業外学習の課題 We will be meeting in class, but well before each class, check any messages or emails and follow instructions to be prepared for the class. After each class, check what you have to do, and when by - homework and other tasks. Around 45 minutes for each day of the week.

We will have classes face to face, but will also use Google Classroom, Google Documents and other online tools for classes 12 and 13 and any other on-demand classes.

成績評価の方法・基準 Communication Skills Assessment (30%), extensive reading (15%), quizzes (15%), final vocabulary tests (20%), class participation (20%). Feedback will be given for assignment and tests.
