授業題目 Global Special Seminar I: World Bridge Program Startup
授業の概要 This is an introductory course mainly for first-year students who are seriously interested and ready to put in the work to gain high-level English and cross-cultural communication skills as well as go on a medium to long-term study abroad program while at this university as part of the World Bridge Program. The course will be taught in English and some Japanese by a team of two bilingual and bi-cultural teachers.

Students will learn and practice effective goal-setting methods, conduct and share basic research on study abroad destinations and programs, learn fundamental yet practical points on cross-cultural communication and put them to regular use with an online language and culture partner at Arizona State University. In addition to receiving basic instruction in the use of a variety of online tools that are essential for communication with the world today, students will also be strongly encouraged to participate in the many virtual international events with students from our 35 overseas partner universities.

1. Create, act upon and monitor a set of learning goals for themselves;
2. Gain a sufficient amount of knowledge about the various kinds of study abroad destinations and programs that are offered at this university so that could begin to find a suitable one for themselves;
3. Have an increased awareness of their own language, culture and communication styles as well as of others to help them in their interactions with people from different backgrounds and ways of thinking and acting;
4. Become comfortable at using a number of online tools used for communication and further language study.
