授業題目 English Communication Studies IV
授業の概要 This class continues on from English Communication Studies III.

In this class we will follow a communicative approach to improving your English. The emphasis will be on a variety of communicative activities, such as pair work, group work and presentations. Students will consolidate and build upon their existing skills by expressing themselves on a variety of relevant topics. Active participation will be key to this approach.
学習の到達目標 Through interactive authentic English materials and various communicative topics, students should become active English communicators showing good development in their vocabulary, fluency, accuracy and communication skills.
授業計画 第1回 Getting to know the class activities, class materials and policy, free talk.
第2回 Unit 7 : Jobs (choosing work and applying for jobs, problems in the work place)
第3回 Unit 7 : Jobs (lifetime employment vs changing jobs, men's/women's roles in work)
第4回 Unit 8 : Shopping (consumerism and the environment)
第5回 Unit 8 : Shopping (consumerism and the environment)
第6回 Unit 9 : School (the school system, problems at school)
第7回 Unit 9 : School (failing school, alternative schools)
第8回 Unit 10 : TV & Movies (the negative influence of TV, selecting the news, violence)
第9回 Unit 10 : TV & Movies (excessive spending in the movie industry, fame)
第10回 Unit 11 : Nature (respecting nature)
第11回 Unit 11 : Nature (environmental problems)
第12回 Unit 12 : Review (vocab review, conversation starters, opinions)

授業外学習の課題 Come prepared to actively participate. About 60 minutes of individual and sometimes group preparation is expected between classes.
履修上の注意事項 対面授業を実施します
If you are absent more than 5 times, you will not get a credit for this course, this includes illness, traffic problems, oversleeping etc. Late attendance is counted as half of one absence.
Plagiarism: Copying someone else's work (online, friend etc) is forbidden. If you plagiarise, you will receive zero for that assignment and you may fail the course.

Students MUST attend classes 14 & 15 which are preparation for group presentations. Students who do not attend these classes, or who do not support their group well, will receive a grade penalty.
Students will not receive regular homework but will be expected to prepare with their group outside class for the final, Power Point presentation.
