| 授業の概要 | This course is designed to improve the English listening, speaking, and discussion skills of students. The focus in the second semester is on moving on from everyday conversation to more structured argument and debate, exploring skills such as agreeing and disagreeing and critical thinking. |
| 学習の到達目標 | The aim of this course is to develop students' abilities to actively join in discussions and conversations. 1. To improve general English speaking and listening skills. 2. To improve interpersonal and strategic language skills. 3. To develop self-expression skills. |

| 履修上の注意事項 | To be successful in this course students need: 1) good attendance & time keeping. 2) good classwork and homework. 3) good motivation and participation. 欠席はいかなる事情があっても4回までとする。 病気、交通機関の乱れ、冠婚葬祭等、一切の事情を含める。 Credit will not be given if students are absent from class more than four times in one semester (including illness, traffic-related problems, family-related matters, etc.). |
| 成績評価の方法・基準 | The grade for the semester is composed of: Attendance and participation, 20%; Weekly homework assignments, 20%; First assessment, 25%; Second assessment, 35%. *If a student is absent from a class, it is the student's responsibility to contact a classmate or the teacher to find out about the classwork/homework. |
