授業題目 Discussing and Expressing Opinions
授業の概要 This course is designed to help students build upon and practice their discussion skills learned during the first semester. They will discuss various topics on social and contentious issues by expressing and supporting their opinions in English. Discussion strategies will be introduced and practiced in pairs and in small groups, and then will be applied in student-led discussions.

Discussion can be an effective way for students to improve their communication skills as well as engaging with core ideas, apply them, and enhance their problem-solving skills. It’s good for promoting teamwork, for eliciting higher-order thinking, and is especially applicable when a subject is complex and/or open-ended.
学習の到達目標 Course objectives are to develop the knowledge of discussion models and to build the skills and confident attitude to engage in discussions and presentations on current event topics of interest through actual practice with language in use.
