授業題目 English Discussion III
授業の概要 In this class, students will practice and improve their ability to discuss various current event topics by expressing and supporting their opinions in English. Discussion models will be introduced and practiced in pair and small group interactions and role plays, and then will be applied in independent topic discussions, mini presentations, and a poster presentation.
学習の到達目標 Course objectives are to develop the knowledge of discussion models and to build the skills and confident attitude to engage in discussions and presentations on current event topics of interest through actual practice with language in use. Students will be able to express and support their opinions with reasons and agree or disagree politely with others' point of view.

授業外学習の課題 Before class, students should preview the "Get Ready" questions on the topic in the textbook, read and listen to the "Situation" story, check the vocabulary in the "Glossary" and answer the Comprehension Questions online. After class, students should reflect on the feedback given on previous discussions and presentations to prepare for the next ones, and complete the online homework from the publisher website.
履修上の注意事項 Students will be expected to participate actively in class activities with pair work, group work, and mini presentations on real life and current events.
1) Please arrive on time, attend all lessons (limit absenteeism), & participate actively in this class taught in English, live, face-to-face on campus.対面
2) If you will be absent, please inform your instructor in advance and check with classmates to find out a) what was covered, b) the homework, & c) what to prepare for next class.

成績評価の方法・基準 Ongoing assessments will be based on independent topic discussions (15%), mini presentations & poster presentations (25%), weekly online homework (15%), one independent study term project (20%), one current events project (15%), and active participation in class (10%).
