授業題目 Active English Ⅴ
授業の概要 This term’s focus is on researching a particular social topic that interests you, learning from your classmates, then preparing and giving presentations on that topic.
学習の到達目標 Students will need to prepare for each class, to read outside class, and to consider topics that are part of everyday life but may not often be discussed. We will continue to have reading as part of our classes.
授業計画 第1回 Course explanation: content, goals, support. We will share any experiences of presentations and public speaking.
第2回 Practice giving opinions, telling what we think. Each student will decide their own presentation topic and prepare a statement.
第3回 Survey all your classmates!
第4回 Bringing together information and vocabulary. Start making your word list, and planning your presentation.
第5回 30 second topic presentations!
Complete and submit word lists for feedback.
What makes a good presentation?
第6回 Learning peer evaluation and feedback for presentations.
Work on making word lists better.
第7回 Revise and resubmit word list.
第8回 Final presentation preparation and practice in pairs.
第9回 1st presentations, with feedback, questions, and peer evaluation.

授業外学習の課題 Students will need to learn about their topics, prepare for presentations, practice outside class with classmates, and prepare topic word lists mostly out of class. Around 45 minutes for each day of the week.
履修上の注意事項 いかなる理由があっても欠席は4回までとする。
(病気、交通機関の乱れ、冠婚葬祭等、一切の事情を含める。)
Credits will not be given if students are absent from class more than four times in one semester (including illness, traffic-related problems, family-related matters, etc.).

成績評価の方法・基準 Presentations (40%), questions to presenters (10%), word lists and vocabulary knowledge (20%), extensive reading (15%), and participation (15%).
