授業題目 Learning, presenting, discussing
授業の概要 The aim of this class is to develop and apply knowledge of English and knowledge of the world by investigating various topics, giving presentations, and through discussions.
学習の到達目標 "It's up to me!" This is the message for each student in this class - your enjoyment, learning, progress through this course and beyond depends on you.
授業計画 第1回 Course explanation: content, goals, support; English Central; sharing experiences of presentations.
第2回 Present topic statements. Prepare mini-questionnaire. Practicing giving and supporting opinions
第3回 Start survey of classmates’opinions, "It's up to me!" mini presentations; word list introductions.
第4回 Finish survey. Finding information in English: online news sources; start preparing word lists
第5回 Compile data. Planning presentations, how to use PowerPoint; first draft of word lists
第6回 Preparing a PowerPoint presentation; asking how to do things; the physical message of presentations.
第7回 Getting everything ready for presentation; submit second draft of word list.
第8回 Practice presentation: giving and taking advice.1st presentations: presenting and asking questions (c.10 minutes total/person).
第9回 More practice presentations and helpful advice.
第10回 1st presentations I: presenting and asking questions.
第11回 1st presentations II: presenting and asking questions.
第12回 2nd presentations I: presenting and asking questions.
第13回 2nd presentations II: presenting and asking questions.
第14回 "Chicken Soup for the Soul" - imagining content, asking questions.
第15回 Class review, vocabulary test
授業外学習の課題 Students will need to find materials, make word lists, and create PowerPoint presentations outside class.
履修上の注意事項 In a small class, there are opportunities for discussion and independent study - let's make the most of it.

いかなる理由があっても欠席は4回までとする。
(病気、交通機関の乱れ、冠婚葬祭等、一切の事情を含める。)
Credits will not be given if students are absent from class more than four times in one semester (including illness, traffic-related problems, family-related matters, etc.).
成績評価の方法・基準 Presentation evaluations (30%), word lists(15%), questions asked (15%), final vocabulary tests (25%). Attitude and class attendance will affect students' grades, as will communication outside class.
