授業題目 | A main purpose of this class is to increase confidence in writing and reading as a process of creation, discovery, and revision. |
授業の概要 | By the end of the course you should increase confidence in your ability in order to meet new writing and reading tasks, to correct basic grammar mistakes, and to use a variety of writing skills, such as the following: - editing your partners’ writings, - taking notes and writing from notes, - organizing different forms of writings, - using appropriate language for different writing types, - writing descriptions and stories, - writing your opinions on various issues, and others. Every two weeks we will have reading tests to prepare yourselves for speedy reading and fast comprehension. |

授業外学習の課題 | Preparing for word tests by looking up new words in English-English dictionaries. Finishing reading, writing and looking up new words or doing exercises at home if we do not have enough time to do so in class. Almost every second week you will be assigned to write a composition (essay, report, diary, etc.). Write them at home and bring them REGULARLY to class. Reading tests should be checked again at home. |
履修上の注意事項 | You will be required to correct your mistakes and your partners' mistakes in the assignments, write questions and comments to them; to practice writing during class; to finish uncompleted written assignments in your own time; to submit your your reports on time. Credits will not be given if students are absent from class more than four times in one semester (including illness, traffic-related problems, family-related matters, etc.). 【This subject is also designed for the 2017~2019 Global Course students. ※ただし、一部の学部・学科では配当されていない場合があります。】 |
成績評価の方法・基準 | Activity during classes (sleeping not allowed!): regular attendance is necessary to complete the whole course 30%(you can be absent only 4 times), full participation during each class: short word tests, reports written during the class 20%, regular submission of your writing projects prepared at home (submitted regularly and on the scheduled time)20%.(Compositions given once at the end of the semester will not be accepted.) The final test 30%. There will not be any midterm tests. |
